Cookie Policy

This policy explains which cookies and browser-storage mechanisms ScanWize uses and how you can manage consent.

Necessary Cookies

ScanWize uses a necessary consent cookie named scanwize_cookie_consent. It stores your cookie choices, is HTTP-only, uses SameSite=Lax, and is kept for up to 180 days.

Necessary cookies are required for security, consent storage and core site behavior. They are not used for advertising.

ScanWize also uses a necessary anonymous quota cookie named scanwize_anon_token. It is HTTP-only, uses SameSite=Lax, is kept for up to 365 days, and lets the backend enforce the first free scan without creating an account. The token itself is not stored in Supabase; only a server-side hash is stored with scan metadata.

Optional Cookies

  • Analytics cookies may be used only after consent to understand which pages and flows need improvement.
  • Marketing cookies may be used only after consent for campaign and conversion measurement.
  • Optional cookies are not required to use the basic ScanWize website.

Other Browser Storage

ScanWize may use local storage for your interface language choice and session storage for anonymous scan results in the current browser tab. Session results are intended to avoid showing fake demo results after a real scan and are cleared by the browser when the session ends.

Managing Consent

You can change your cookie choices from the footer by selecting โ€œCookie preferencesโ€. Optional cookies should not be placed unless you have accepted them.

If you clear cookies or browser storage, ScanWize may ask for your preference again.

Belgian And EU Rules

ScanWize treats non-essential analytics and marketing cookies as consent-based. Consent must be a clear affirmative choice and can be withdrawn without affecting access to the basic website.
